As part of the Nature Island Literary Festival and Book Fair a stimulating range of workshops have been arranged. Take advantage of this free opportunity to learn from our experienced writers.

    HOW TO SUCCESSFULLY SELF-PUBLISH YOUR BOOK led by OLIVIA WILLIAMS
    Olivia is a former Peace Corps volunteer in Dominica who has self-published two books, including Poetic Island: Refreshing Expressions from Waitukubuli. The workshop will look at the challenges and rewards of self-publishing.
     


  2. THURSDAY,
    AUGUST 4th 
      4.30 – 6.30pm 

    HOW TO WRITE FOR CHILDREN led by TRISH COOKE
     
    Trish is an award-winning children’s writer from the UK and this workshop will look at the craft of writing for children and how to develop your ideas and your writing skills.

    TRAVEL WRITING led by Paul Crask
    Whether your journeys take you to Bangkok, Borneo, Bataca or the Boiling Lake, explore some of the fundamentals of travel writing with Bradt Travel Guides author Paul Crask in an informal and interactive workshop.
     


  4. SATURDAY,
    AUGUST 6TH    
     9.00 – 10.45am
    OPENING DOORS FOR EARLY LITERACY led by Trish Cooke and Barbara Bully 
    Two experienced children’s writers look at how parents can encourage and develop a love of reading in their children.

    I & I led by GINO MORROW and KEEGAN MAHARAJ
    The two exciting poets will lead an open discussion on “ideas and issues”  that concern young people and how to engage with them through creative expression.

    PLAYWRITING led by SNOO WILSON

    The award-winning British playwright Snoo Wilson invites participants to send in sketches and scenes that might be staged and to discuss aspects of playwriting. Email Snoo Wilson: snoowilson@email.com with your work. Or just come and be there.
